If you have a good basic computer knowledge I can tell you how I have mine setup to switch between different versions easily. I plan to keep the different ones for now at least. so far I have 1.7, 1.8.1, 1.9pre, and 1.9pre2.

I can post instructions for the whole thing (not including getting the jar files) if it’s all right with eaglerock.

Well, to get to the prerelease 1.9 server, you’ll have to download the prerelease client .jar file Mojang has supplied on the Minecraft Forums. I will post instructions and links for that.

Once we are on 1.9 stable with Bukkit and all, you’ll just have to update when prompted. But updating your client for the prerelease is as simple as backing up and replacing a file.

#3 sounds good. Testing new stuff would help us be a bit more organized for the release. Should give people an idea of what to look forward to and what they want to do with 1.9.
