New Survival Server

New Survival Server Idea

Here's a quick synopsis of what the survival server will have, and a quick jist of what the rules, plugins, and perks will be:

Server Setup and Plugins:
  • Runs latest stable version of Minecraft (that Bukkit and the plugins will allow)
  • Standard hourly map backup, with daily backups of other maps
  • Essentials plugin for warps, ranks, etc.
  • Grief protection plugins similar to BigBrother
  • Chest protection plugins (similar to LWC)
  • Multi-world plugin to allow for more than one overworld map
  • Economy plugin (EssentialsEco, iConomy, etc.) with a global shop and a player chest shops
  • MCMMO or some other form of MMO or "leveling" plugin
  • TownyMod
  • WorldEdit (for admins)
  • WorldGuard (for multiple uses and wilderness protections)

Server Maps:

Aquilia:
  • Standard Map for Towns and buildings
  • No Whitelist, but no building rights for new members
  • WorldGuard and Towny protections for creations
  • PvM only, no griefing nor theft
  • Map designed to last for a long time on Eagleworld
  • Name based on the Latin word for "eagle"

Vitalia:
  • Mining Map for gathering resources
  • Also can be used as a testbed for your creations, or even playing around with massive amounts of TNT
  • New players will complete their trial here before getting full membership and access to Aquilia
  • PvM only, still no griefing nor theft
  • Will be deleted and recreated with a new seed periodically
  • Allows for the majority of mining and the preservation of Aquilia
  • When new ores and items come out, they can be gathered here, as the map will be regenerated
  • Any time the map is deleted, ample notice will be given to players
  • Name based on the Latin word for "life"

Infernia:
  • Standard Nether map
  • Will be open to all players above a certain rank
  • Map will be FULL PVP
  • Ganking members and stealing items are permitted in this world
  • The map will be periodically refreshed as well, to allow for renewal of glowstone and other resources
  • Name based on the Latin word for "underworld"

Finia:
  • Standard The End map
  • Will be open to all players above a certain rank
  • PvP or PvM...still undecided
  • Will look into a plugin that allows for respawn of the Ender Dragon
  • Will not create until I can find a sustainable Ender Dragon solution
  • Name based on the Latin word for "end"

Server Rules:
  • Standard no-griefing/theft/hacking policy in effect
  • Server will primarily be PvM, but with the ability to kill other players (for duels, contests, etc.)
  • An age limit of 16 years or older will be kept, but any current members that are underage are grandfathered in
  • New players will now have a trial period on the mining map (Vitalia) and fill an application to join
  • And yes, cursing is still fucking allowed.

Please vote on what you think of this scheme so far, and tell me what it is you like and dislike about it. I want Eagleworld to be a place for you to enjoy, and I cannot know what you want if you don't speak up. Thanks!

if your under 16, just wait, it will change :P

I like the idea of regen mining maps. Are we "suggesting" no mining outside of the mining world?
Besides the mining needed to explore caves, and create underground rooms for homes or grinders.

I would enjoy one more world, no creation or destruction, I would like a museum world, where we can pull in creations from other places and save them. esp nether or mining world creations that are worth the copy paste. maybe a open sky tram that takes you past each item / creation.

no mobs, no building, no towny, ( unless thats how we lock it down) just a "read only" view of Art.
We could have contests to "earn" a slot to show off, and hold votes to put things in there, as well as game contests ( archery, mob kills in 60 seconds.. etc) to earn a "slot" to show off.

rOOt can choose a creation outside of contests that should be perserved and the admins can move the items over with world edit.

I'm okay with mining in the main overworld, but I'm suggesting that the majority of it be done in the mining world. If you want to make a wilderness outpost and have a mine as part of your settlement, that's perfectly fine. Aesthetics and creative reasons definitely warrant a mine. Additionally, having a small mine is fine for convenience.

However, there are some mines that can sprawl huge sections of the map, especially if you do branch mining, like me, or strip mining, like BigX. That kind of stuff should be relegated to the mining map.

I'll consider it definitely. However, I believe that we shoudl take these in stride. I consider our priorities here as follows (in order of importance):

Functional server with overworld, mining, and nether worlds
Buildout of server to have a decent spawn and necessary ammentities (global shop)
Functional The End with a renewable Ender Dragon
Refreshing of the Tekkit server and update to Tekkit Lite
Addition of either the Creative map or the Museum map, whichever users want more

agreed, just a later idea to put down somewhere so I didnt have to remember it later.
