anybody still here? / minecraft realms

is anyone still around? is the server officially dead?
I had popped in on the server now and then but it never looked like anything was happening. Haven't been able to get in at all in quite a while.
Anyways, I was wondering if eagleworld down for good, what do people think about minecraft realms? recreating our group there or something. It just opened up in north america. its pretty affordable, little over 10 bucks a month (depends how much time you buy at a time), the main downsides are that its limited to vanilla for the moment and it's limited to 20 users (10 at a time).
