Slow Minecraft Fix

Some people are complaining that Minecraft runs very slowly. I have noticed that this issue occurs over time and Minecraft will run slower and slower until it is unbearable. I have experienced the same issue myself, and I fix it with the following steps:

  1. Close Minecraft completely.
  2. Go to your Application Data Directory:
On Windows XP - Start -> Run, type '%APPDATA%' and press Enter
On Windows Vista/7 - Start, type '%APPDATA%' in the search and press Enter
  3. A Windows Explorer window will open up.
  4. Navigate to the ".minecraft" directory.
  5. Delete the "bin" and "resources" folders completely.
  6. Make sure NOT to delete anything else!
  7. Start up Minecraft again. You will re-download the latest Minecraft version from minecraft.net

After that, Minecraft should run significantly faster once again. It works for me every time, so hopefully it works for you!

  1. dont work lol, are you kidding?

    • Actually, I wasn’t kidding. However, this doesn’t always work, especially for people not in the US. I find people in Brazil tend to have the most trouble with this issue. Here’s the fix for people in Brazil:

      1) Play some soccer (that seems to fix everything).
      2) Go back to your hut after talking about the soccer game.
      3) Run a full virus scan on your PC.
      4) Delete minecraft.exe off your PC.
      5) Head out to the local electronics store.
      6) Pass by the soccer section and head to where the new computers are
      7) Ask the sales rep (after talking about soccer) to help you buy a better computer
      8) Try again after playing some more soccer.

Let me know how it works out!

      • I tried this now every time it goes to update it stops at a random point looking for minecraft.jar? Any reason for this? I just paid 26 bucks and all I want to do is fucken play for more than 5 minutes. I’m goin crazy here.
